Argentina has a significant impact on China's import restrictions on textiles and other products

Argentina’s Ministry of Industry announced on the 15th that it will tighten restrictions on imported products and expand the range of products that are subject to non-automatic import licenses.

The non-automatic import license means that the importer must submit an application to the relevant authority, which can be imported only after it has been reviewed and approved by the authorities and issued a permit. This is often accompanied by a number of restrictions.

The Minister of Industry of Argentina stated that this is to promote the investment and development of domestic industry and create new jobs. For the products subject to import restrictions, Argentina’s industrial sector has sufficient production capacity to fully meet the needs of the domestic market.

According to the official gazette, Argentina will implement a non-automatic import licensing system for products such as metallurgical products, household electronic products, textiles, and premium automobiles.

Analysts pointed out that the new restrictive import measures introduced by the Argentine government have a particularly significant impact on Brazilian and Chinese imports. Since January of this year, Argentine Customs has significantly slowed the pace of importing many products from Brazil and China and set up many obstacles.
