The business club reported on February 21 that the pressure on American clothing retailers has eased greatly. In 2010, American consumers’ spending on fashion and clothing increased. After spending was reduced by about 5% in 2009, consumer spending in 2010 increased by 1.9% year-on-year.

Men's clothing market rose once again, with a year-on-year increase of 3.3%, and a 5.6% drop in 2009, followed by women's wear, which rose 2.9% year-on-year, compared with a 5.0% drop in 2009.

The children’s wear market proved disappointing, with retail sales falling by 3.6% year-on-year. However, the number of retail sales increased by 1%.

Women’s clothing, such as skirts, grew the most, with an increase of almost 13%, while apparel grew by nearly 4%.
