Over the last few seasons, we've rolled out several patterns I designed specifically to assist you in achieving a great fit. One of these patterns was our Extra-Sharp Pencil Skirt, which features strategically placed seams allowing for easy customization to match your body's unique shape. This fall, we’re introducing two more patterns with the same goal in mind.
The first of these is the Rush Hour Dress + Blouse. It's a fitted design with princess seams and a small Dior dart to ensure an excellent fit.
Attached are some images of the pattern pieces and the finished product. The dress is incredibly versatile, offering multiple styling options. Not only does it provide a chic sheath dress and a fitted blouse with an asymmetrical peplum, but it also lets you choose between sleeveless, short-sleeved, or long-sleeved versions. Both styles come with an invisible back zipper, and the dress has a practical walking vent. The blouse’s peplum has a subtle flare and an asymmetrical cut that adds a touch of uniqueness. Both pieces are fully lined, except for the sleeves, but you can easily add lining if desired.
The pattern comes with separate pieces for cup sizes A/B, C, and D, so the full bust adjustment is already taken care of. The instructions guide you through checking the fit and making any necessary adjustments, especially since some fabrics may stretch more than others. This ensures you achieve the perfect fit before final assembly.
When it comes to fabric choices, this pattern performs beautifully in wool flannel and crepe. A floral sateen or linen would make it stand out. Apparel-weight canvas, such as those lovely Japanese fabrics, or denim and other twills would work great too. For the blouse, lighter fabrics might be just as effective.
