introducing the liesl + co. rush hour dress + blouse sewing pattern>
Over the past few seasons, we've introduced several patterns I designed to assist you in achieving the best possible fit. One of these patterns was the Extra-Sharp Pencil Skirt, which features strategically placed seams to make customizing the fit to your body shape a breeze. This autumn, we’re excited to launch two more patterns with the same goal in mind.
The first of these is the Rush Hour Dress + Blouse. It’s a sleek, fitted design with princess seams and a small Dior-style dart to ensure a fantastic fit.
I’ve included some images below to give you a better idea of what this pattern looks like.

This pattern is incredibly versatile, giving you a range of options. Not only does it offer both a classic sheath dress and a fitted blouse with an asymmetrical peplum, but it also lets you choose between sleeveless, short-sleeved, or long-sleeved versions. Both styles come with an invisible back zipper, and the dress includes a walking vent for ease of movement. The peplum on the blouse has a soft flare and is asymmetrical in a way that's both intriguing and unique. Both styles are fully lined, except for the sleeves, but you can easily add lining if desired.
To accommodate different cup sizes, the pattern comes with separate pieces for A/B, C, and D cups, so the full bust adjustment is already accounted for. The instructions guide you through checking the fit and making necessary adjustments, especially since some fabrics are more stretchy than others. This ensures you'll achieve the perfect fit before everything is stitched together.
Here are a few more photos to spark your creativity:

When it comes to fabric choices, this pattern works beautifully in wool flannel and crepe. A floral sateen or linen would create a striking look, while a pretty Japanese apparel-weight canvas or denim/twill fabric would also work well. For the blouse, lighter fabrics could be used too.
As always, I’ve put together some photos to inspire you. This style is reminiscent of something Meghan Markle might wear! Consider adding a pretty floral print or even color-blocking to give the dress a more separated look. For the peplum, gingham or checks would be perfect for summer.

This is an exceptionally versatile style, and I’ll show you just how many ways it can be styled soon. The dress can be worn countless different ways.
The Rush Hour Dress + Blouse pattern will be available for purchase next week. You can visit the pattern page for either the paper or digital version and sign up to receive an email notification as soon as it’s available!
In the meantime, feel free to browse through some of my other patterns, and keep an eye out for more updates coming your way. Happy sewing!
