Stepping Taiwan's investment in Taiwan's Quanzhou nearly 3 billion U.S. dollars>
Quanzhou has seen a significant rise in Taiwanese investment over the past year, according to the Quanzhou Taiwan Affairs Office. In 2023 alone, 31 new Taiwanese investment projects were approved, with a total investment of $148 million. By the end of last year, the city had authorized a total of 1,386 Taiwanese-funded enterprises, accumulating a combined investment of $2.834 billion.
As a key platform for Taiwanese investors, the Quanzhou Taiwanese Investment Zone has witnessed substantial development. Several major projects, including the Jinyi Logistics and Tiangang Precision Machinery initiatives, have been officially launched within the zone. The Hui'an Green Valley High-tech Incubation Center was recently opened, welcoming the first batch of seven incubation projects from Taiwan. Meanwhile, the Shishi Yongning Taiwanese Investment Base began its initial phase of development, and the cross-strait (Fujian·Anxi) Tea Industry Cooperation Demonstration Base received official approval.
In addition, the city was granted permission by the Ministry of Agriculture to establish the Taiwan Agricultural Technology Exchange and Promotion Center, and the Hui’an National Taiwan Farmers’ Pioneer Park is currently under application. These developments highlight Quanzhou's growing role as a hub for cross-strait economic collaboration.
On the flip side, Quanzhou companies are also expanding their presence in Taiwan. Four local firms, including Quanzhou Zhongquan Group, Fengze Shipping, Huantai Agricultural Products Market, and Quanzhou Antong Logistics, have established branches or offices in Taiwan. Notably, Xtep, a well-known brand shoe company, opened a store in Taipei, becoming the first mainland sports brand to officially enter the Taiwanese market. Dehua Ceramics also expanded its reach by setting up fine white porcelain outlets in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, adopting a parallel marketing strategy and launching an online platform.
Other companies, such as Yuncheng Plate-making, Anta, Peak, Lilang, and Jiumu Wang, are actively planning to open offices in Taiwan. Additionally, Anxi Bama and Tieguanyin Group, both prominent tea companies from Quanzhou, are exploring opportunities for chain operations in Taiwan. These efforts reflect a dynamic and evolving relationship between Quanzhou and Taiwan, driven by mutual economic interests and increasing business collaboration.
